HitchFail of the Year

Philosopher Jagger once said “you can’t always get what you want” and that’s what happened as I couldn’t find a boat willing to take me to #Sicily from #Malta and therefore was forced to use the extortionately priced ferry! After more than three weeks in Malta and almost one week at the marina, enough was enough, and I’m very sad for it. Mick Jagger also said “but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need!” and though it was frustrating, the people from La Marina Trattoria were so kind to feed me and give me free drinks if there was a wrong order, as well as the “Meeting the Odyssey” theatre crew from the boat “Hoppet” who couldn’t take me to #Lampedusa and lastly the #goodsamaritan from #Ireland who helped me pay for the silly ferry! I am currently in #Siracusa #Sicilia and I’m going to do some #sightseeing before #hitchhiking to #Catania/#Messina to make it to mainland #Italy. Do I feel defeated? Yes, but some things are more important than #boathitching, such as seeing my family and attending the #hitchgathering in #France. Would I have tried longer if there was no time pressure? Certainly, I’d be in Malta until that #yacht would finally take me! 😉
