Qatar

Qatar is a country I haven’t traveled to (yet). When I was in the United Arab Emirates in early 2021, I had the idea to also go to Qatar, but it wasn’t open because of COVID-19. Bummer!

I also shortly considered going there while I was traveling at the Gulf in Iran (2014) after meeting a Qatari who said it was nice, but that would have meant forfeiting the rest of my days on my Iranian visa. I’m not sure if there would have been a boat, but I would have only done it if there was a ferry from Iran to Qatar.

Planning a Trip to Qatar? 🏡
Make sure to book your accommodation ahead of time ⏰ I’ve ended up too many times in mediocre leftover hotels or apartments far away from the action because I had to book last minute…🙄 I always book on Booking or Airbnb because they have the most options 😇 Not quite sure about your trip? Many places offer a full refund a few days before your stay! 💸

I hope that in the future, you can find posts about Qatar on this page. For now, perhaps read about other countries, such as the UAE or Turkey?

Things I’d Like to Do in Qatar

  • Hitchhike!
  • Explore the capital Doha
  • Visit the highest point called Qurayn Abu al Bawl. It’s only 103masl, so that should be doable
  • Visit the Khawr al Udayd. It looks beautiful
  • Maybe kayak somewhere? If you know about a place for kayaking in Qatar, comment below!
  • Perhaps speak some Arabic? I need to pick this up again on Duolingo before I go
  • I’m not a fan of animals as entertainment for humans, but I’m very curious about the robotic camel races in Qatar. I can’t help my curiosity…

Right now, it’s not really interesting for me to do intensive research into visiting this country and gathering information. But once there are ideas of visiting or if I find inspiration, I might add it here.

If you know cool places and things to do in Qatar, comment below so I can always find your suggestions again once I start making it happen! Tips are especially welcome if you are Qatari or have lived there for a while

Are you a travel blogger and do you have good posts about Qatar? Drop them in a comment below and I’ll read them!

Two Weeks in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

This is a diary-style post about what we did during our two weeks in Dubai before moving on to Sharjah within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I tried to make it a bit informative if you’re traveling to Dubai, but I usually don’t write about cities that are already well-written about. Everything written here happened in 2021. Jonas had already visited Dubai for three days back in 2010 and told me it was a very misunderstood place. How Many People Can Visit All Countries on Earth?

You might have heard of some people who have visited all 195 countries on earth. Whoa! How do they do that? Isn’t this hugely expensive? Could a person like you or me visit all countries? Possibly, yeah, but if you think money is the greatest obstacle to visiting all of the world’s countries, you’re wrong. It’s actually the passport you hold – if you can afford one, to begin with. Out of curiosity, I tried to calculate how many people cannot visit one or more of the world’s 195 countries. If one country doesn’t let you in based on your nationality,Continue reading
