Happy New Year 2020! This is a Kilometer Sign…

Happy 2020 from Jonas and me! We hope you had a wholesome new year’s eve.

I hope you’ll have a good start of the new decade with lots of adventures (small and big), fair winds, good hitchhiking road karma, or a strong but not scary current to paddle in.

Jonas and I are currently in Chiang Mai (Thailand), but we took this photo at the Austrian Danube. At the town of Spitz an der Donau there’s a ferry to cross the Danube to the right-hand side where the signs 2019, 2020, and 2021 are very close to each other. It’s in the town of Oberarnsdorf, to be precise. These signs mark how many kilometers there are to go from your point to the Danube Delta in Romania. For each year, you’ll have to walk another kilometer upstream for this photo op.

Of course, we also have photos of the 2019 and 2021 signs, which are less spectacular because they put the numbers above one another instead of side by side. I’ll have to contact the via donau organization in Austria about this one day and ask to speak to the manager.

The hike was also in the late afternoon and we didn’t want to miss the last ferry, so after 2021 we walked back to the reaction ferry back to Spitz.

New Year’s Resolutions

As for new year’s resolutions… I think it’s all pretty basic. I want to get my health back on track so I can hitchhike, hike, and paddle a lot. I’m also working on improving my blog and sharing a lot of (useful/less useful) content with the people who read this. Perhaps I’d like to finally finish writing one of those books in my head. I don’t really know yet.

For now, I’m just very happy with the things I managed to accomplish in the last year regarding my student debt and my health.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? Will you travel a lot this year? I’d love to hear your plans and goals in the comments below!
